Hello all you charming women,
Hope you’re still here after reading the title. Well I was just kidding….. (awkward silence) I wish I was but no it’s the fact (cries in the corner). So last time we read about which one amongst waxing or epilating is better, if you ask me, none is. Both give you pain. (thinks about shifting to the Himalayas so that shaving won’t be necessary). But now that you’re here, it means you chose epilation. First of all, a standing ovation to you brave ladies. Today we are going to discuss how to use an epilator. The best way to use an epilator is just rip off your hands, legs, and all the body parts where there is a possibility of hair growth, and you’ll never have to use an epilator. Sounds simple right?

Okay! Jokes apart, let’s see how does an epilator actually work. For that let’s first know what is an epilator?
So epilators can be used to remove hair. Epilator is this small electric device, which plucks your hair out of their roots and gives you a hair-free and a smoother skin. But not many people know how to rightly use the epilator? Hence I am here today and I am going to tell you, how to use an epilator?

CHOOSE A GOOD QUALITY EPILATOR

While choosing an epilator, you need to keep in account the epilator use. Like what all places are you going to use the epilators. Generally, people think that epilators can only be used for legs, well no that’s not true, epilators can be used anywhere, legs, arms, facial epilators, underarms, bikini area. You just need to have the right type of epilator for that. Not every epilator can be used at all the places. Hence, you need to know all the features before buying one.

The best epilator in recent times is the Panasonic ES- EP90- P. This one has 48 tweezers. And it can be used as both wet and dry. Yes, you can use wet epilators. But there’s a process for it, we will come to it later. You can look for epilators online and compare and get one for yourself, but make sure you buy a nice and right one, as it is a one-time investment.

HOW TO PREPARE YOU SKIN FOR EPILATION?

1. SHAVE YOUR LEGS 2-3 DAYS PRIOR

In order to get the best result of epilation in the first use, you have to shave your legs 2-3 days prior to when you’re going to epilate. When you shave the length of the haircuts down to half cm, which then helps the epilator to pluck the hair out of their roots else the epilator will only pull out half the hair which will then result into the growth of ingrown hair. So shave your hair before you epilate for the first time to ensure the effective results.

2. SET ASIDE AN HOUR FOR THE FIRST USE

When you use the epilators for the first time, it usually takes more time, because you have to carefully and slowly take up the whole process. The first timers are recommended to go on the lowest speed there is on the epilator to avoid any injury or unbearable pain. (the pain still remains screamable…wait.. is that even a word?)

3. TAKE A PAINKILLER AN HOUR BEFORE YOU BEGIN

So many of you ask how to use an epilator without pain; this is the solution. Well not a complete solution, because having a painkiller does not really make you go through the process pain-free but it does help you feel much, much better. You can also use numbing cream. You need to apply a thick layer of the numbing cream on your body part where you’re planning to epilate and cover it for an hour. Note: The effect of the numbing cream wears off in 30 mins.

4. EXFOLIATE YOUR BODY PARTS BEFORE YOU EPILATE

It is necessary to exfoliate your body parts, a day before you decide to epilate them. This enhances the process to be done smoothly, also it gives your skin a shine and smoothness after the epilation is done.

5. DECIDE WHETHER YOU WANT TO GO WITH WET OR DRY EPILATION?

Yes epilation can be done both ways, wet and dry. Both have their own process, and effects. You just need to decide which one do you want to go with. Also, check if your epilator permits wet epilation.

HOW TO USE AN EPILATOR?

1. USE THE LOWEST SETTING FIRST

So epilators have various settings, that means they work at various speeds. For the first time users, it is recommended to use the epilator on the lowest setting, which will ensure a little less pain also will make you get used to how it is to be used.

2. START ON THE INSIDE OF YOUR LOWER LEG

In the beginning, you need to choose an area where the hair is in abundance, cause choosing an area like your ankle where the hair is less, can be very painful, so come to those areas later when you’re numb or used to pain. (Ohh trust me, that never happens)

3. THE RIGHT WAY TO HOLD THE EPILATOR

Okay, so this is very important. Because if you don’t hold the epilator in a right way, you might end up pulling out your skin. This is not just for the first timers, but for every time use, you learn with time. Hold the epilator perpendicular to your skin, and use it in the opposite direction to the hair growth, also hold the epilator close to your skin, but don’t press it down.

4. GO SLOWLY AND MAKE SURE YOU GET ALL THE HAIR

Don’t rush, just use it slowly and make sure you don’t leave any hair or spot. Let it take more time than usual, but just do it with care and attention.

5. CHANGE THE SPEED ONCE YOU’RE USED TO THE PAIN

I can hear all the women laughing right now, after reading the heading. You said after getting used to the pain, what? That never happens sister. But sure it gets a little better with time. So you can change the speed after you feel that you’ve become numb to the pain of your soul getting ripped off every time you use the epilator.

6. MOISTURISE YOUR BODY PARTS AFTER FINISHING

It is very important to moisturise after epilating because epilating leaves your skin with redness, which looks very bad. So in order to get rid of the redness everytime you epilate, moisturise your body after every use.

WHAT SHOULD BE THE ROUTINE FOR EPILATION?

Knowing the routine and the necessary steps are more important than knowing how to use an epilator.

1. CLEAN YOUR EPILATOR AFTER EVERY USE

Cleaning your epilator is very necessary. Because hygiene is the first rule for having a great skin, the glows and smooth look. Hence, clean your epilator regularly. The dry ones can be cleaned with the cleaning kit that comes with the epilators, while the wet epilators can be cleaned under running water and rinsed.

2. EPILATE A FEW TIMES OVER THE WEEK

For those who are using it for the first time, you guys need to epilate almost every day to get rid of all the hair from the roots, also it gives a smoother texture to your skin. So for the first week use it daily, and then use it 2-3 times a week. With the course of time, the usage reduces as the hair growth reduces. And you finally live a pain-free life. Hahaha just kidding, that never happens, but yeah the usage becomes less with the course of time. After some time you need to do touch-ups whenever needed.

3. EPILATOR USE ON OTHER PARTS

Epilator hair removal can be used everywhere on the body as I said before, so you can use epilators everywhere. Some epilators come with different set of blades and tweezers for different parts, just read the manual and you’re good to go.

I think this is all the information you need on how to use an epilator? Yes, ladies, take those small pain bugs out and start your painful journey towards hair free and smoother skin, just make sure you don’t rip out your skins or souls in the process.
