However, what many of us don’t know is that with simple ingredients we find in our homes we can minimize this suffering. We bring some amazing home remedies that help you to cure period pain.

1. Sesame seed oil:
Sesame seed oil is used in Ayurveda from ancient times. It has many medicinal properties. Massaging sesame seed oil to your abdominal area would soothe the pain. Do it twice or thrice a day when you are menstruating for the best results.
2. Cumin seeds:
Cumin seeds are one of the most common ingredients that we use in our daily meals. Cumin seeds have anti-inflammatory qualities which act as a painkiller. Make an herbal tea by boiling water with a handful of cumin seeds in it. Consume this herbal tea during menstruation to soothe the menstrual cramps.
Ginger is another everyday ingredient which works great to treat menstrual cramps. It is also very useful to cure irregular periods. Ginger also contains elements which fight fatigue related to premenstrual syndrome. You could add more ginger to your everyday meals or make an herbal ginger tea. You can also eat ginger candies at regular intervals to cure menstrual cramps.
4. Fenugreek Seeds:
Soak some Fenugreek seeds in a glass of water overnight or for more than 12 hours. Consume this water once or twice a day to reduce the menstrual pain.
The very flavorful Cinnamon contains anticlotting, anti-inflammatory and antispasmodic qualities. All these qualities are very helpful to relieve the period pain. You can make cinnamon tea by boiling water with a quarter teaspoon of cinnamon powder for about five minutes. Later add some honey to this tea and consume it for at least two to three times a day for noticeable results. If you don’t have time to make a tea, just add a half teaspoon of cinnamon powder to a cup of warm water and honey.
6. Apply heat:
Applying heat is one of the best quick fixes to the menstrual cramps. You can apply a hot pad or a hot water bag on the abdominal area or the lower back area to control the menstrual cramps. It relieves and relaxes uterus’ muscles which are contracting at time of menstruation. You can also soak a towel in hot water and place it on the problem area. A hot shower may help too.
7. Essential Oils:
You massage the affected area with essential oils. You can use essential oils such as Lavender oil, Clary sage oil and marjoram essential oils. You can mix few drops of these essential oils to an unscented moisturizer and massage all over the abdominal area.
